How to Pay a Bill

Vail Health billing update: your statement may look different

We’re in the process of updating how we manage billing statements. During this time, you may receive statements that look different if you’ve had more than one visit. This does not mean you’ve been billed twice. Each statement reflects a specific visit and may arrive at different times.

Please use the information below to better understand what phone number or payment portal to use based on the statement in your hand.

Be Aware of Third-Party Payment Services

Please be aware of third-party companies, like Doxo, that offer to pay your hospital bill for you. These companies are not affiliated in any way with Vail Health and often charge additional fees and can delay the processing of your payment, potentially leading to late fees on your account.

Preguntas frecuentes

It’s important to understand that the claim process can take up to 60 days (on average) to process through your insurance. If you have questions about amounts owed, you can contact customer service during our normal business hours.

PayZen is a trusted healthcare payment partner we work with to help some patients manage medical bills through flexible payment options. They work directly with patients on our behalf and are authorized to discuss and collect payment for services provided by our organization. If you are contacted by PayZen regarding a balance related to your care with us, the communication is legitimate and safe to engage with.

Yes! Once you are seen in one of our facilities we bill your health insurance as part of our normal process. After a period of time, your health insurance carrier will communicate to us two things: What they will cover, and what you are responsible for. We will process that information and it is sent to you in the form of the patient statement.

Vail Health bills and collects for the following services:

  • Centro Médico Beaver Creek
  • Behavioral Health Services
  • Breast Care Clinic
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation Center
  • Cardiovascular Center and Pulmonology Clinic
  • Howard Head Medicina Deportiva
  • Infectious Disease
  • Laboratory
  • Centro de Cáncer Shaw
  • Sonnenalp Breast Center
  • Surgical Associates
  • Atención de urgencia
  • Vail Health Clinics
  • Hospital Vail Health
  • Wound Care

Even though you may have received care from the services below, Vail Health does not bill for them. This means the following entities will continue to bill you separately as they have in the past.

  • Anesthesia Partners of Colorado
  • Colorado Mountain Medical
  • Durable Medical Equipment (such as Breg or Med Vantage)
  • Home Oxygen Vendors (such as Lincare or AlpinAir)
  • La Clínica Steadman
  • Vail Summit Orthopedics & Neurosurgery
  • Vail Valley Surgery Center

Vail Health and Colorado Mountain Medical joined forces in 2019 because we realized that, together, we can provide better care for our community than we can apart. Since the partnership is new, the billing systems are still separated as we have two different software solutions and practices in place. We understand that a better patient experience means that your patient statements all come from the same place, regardless of receiving your care from Vail Health or Colorado Mountain Medical. As opportunities to align systems become available, we are hopeful to work towards that goal.
