Vail Valley Medical Center recently announced the appointment of Daniel Pennington who will serve as president of the Vail Valley Medical Center Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n

“Dan brings 25 years of invaluable experience in philanthropy nonprofit business and healthcare leadership to VVMC” said President and CEO Doris Kirchner. “As we embark on building Vail’s hospital of the future Dan will lead a capital campaign to support this initiative.”<\/p>\n\n\n

Pennington was the senior development director at Mayo Clinic for 10 years where he was responsible for raising funds that average more than $320 million annually. He was the assistant chair for development and lead planner for a capital campaign for Mayo that surpassed its $1.25 billion goal by $100 million.<\/p>\n\n\n

“The VVMC Foundation will help the hospital achieve its goals and realize its vision for the future” Pennington said. “While I will never cure cancer or perform neurosurgery I have chosen my career path because of the joy in knowing that by bringing institutions like VVMC and philanthropists together we are making a difference in the lives of others.”<\/p>\n\n\n

Prior to joining Mayo Pennington was the principal and senior consultant with Pennington & Company Inc. providing fundraising and public relations consulting services to nonprofit organizations of all sizes across the United States. Most recently he served as the chief philanthropy officer at Via Christi Health the largest provider in Kansas.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
